Michael was a proud Vietnam Veteran, a master carpenter, and a lifelong collector of treasures. He had a passion for art, creating ceramic pieces, buying and selling unique finds, and making a good deal. His craftsmanship, creativity, and resourcefulness were well known throughout the community.
Known affectionately as "Mr. Mike," he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether someone needed a tool, a trailer, help clearing out unwanted items, or simply a solution to a problem, Michael would do his very best to make it happen. He touched countless lives through his generosity, kindness, and unwavering willingness to help others.
Michael approached life with optimism and resilience. No matter the circumstance, he believed that each day was the beginning of a new chance to start again. His positive spirit, sense of humor, and determination will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judy Gentry; his sons, Anthony R. Gentry and Nicholas B. Gentry; his grandchildren, Blaine Cornelius and Austin Gentry Jones; his great-grandchildren, Brook Cornelius and Grayson Cornelius; his sister, Marybeth Touchston; his brother, Scott Gentry; and his best friend, Philodean Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Gentry; his mother, Mildred Gentry; his father, Carlton Gentry; his brother, William "Bill" Gentry; and his brother-in-law, Tim Touchston.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, US, on June 9, 2026, at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Dion Jefferson.
The family extends special thanks to District 3 EMTs, the ICU Trauma Unit at Ochsner LSU Health, and The Carpenter House for their compassionate care and support.
