Michael Shane Lafitte was born January 15, 1974. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1992 and Northwestern State University in 1996. Later in life Shane earned his master's degree in Computer Systems Technology from LSUS.
Shane loved spending time and making memories with his family, especially the apple of his eye, Alyssa. Shane loved watching her grow, explore, and learn. They learned about rock polishing, catching bugs, and the constellations. He was always ready for some fun! Shane loved to play board games, cards, dominos, pool - anything that required strategizing. As a teenager, he played air guitar to nostalgic '70's and '80's music. Occasionally, he would have the opportunity to see his favorite bands in concert, most recently, Bob Seger. This prepared him for many good times singing karaoke with his mom, Cindy, and his late father, Joe Meshell.
Shane loved deeply and his smile would warm the heart of anyone. He worked hard to provide for his family, yet he always had time to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He was simple and humble yet provided immeasurable strength as a devoted son and brother. He was like a rock to his family and never wavered. Shane went to join his dad and other loved ones upon the stage December 22, 2022.
Shane is preceded in death by his father, Joe Martin Meshell, his grandfather, Charles Meshell, and his grandparents, Jerry and Tina LaFitte. Left to cherish beautiful memories are his daughter, Alyssa Michal Lafitte; mother, Cindy Meshell; sister, Sheree Langley and her husband Trey, and sons, Shelton and Tayte; brother, Bill Meshell and his wife Danielle, and children, Courtney, Haley, and Austin; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
