Myrden Bernice Smith Johnston received her angel wings on September eighth at the age of 97. She was the oldest of six and the last to leave us. She leaves behind, daughter Sharon Culpepper (Jack) and their children Jason Strickland, Trevor Culpepper (Sarah) and Grant Rourke (Shawn). Daughter Shirley Fraser (Billy) and sons Richard, Jim, and Jon. Son William David "Bill" Johnston (Marti) and their daughters Alexandria and Abigal Johnston. Great Grandkids Sutton, Olivia, Miller, Cassidy, Kiley, Veronica and Baby Sawyer (born 12/25/24).
Greeting her will be Wm Sherman Johnston, husband for over 60 years, infant daughter and her five siblings.
You never saw our mother without a book in her hand. She may be on the pier, at the pool, in the school pick up line, waiting at an appointment always reading.
At the age of 42 she and my father adopted a baby boy. She was always caring for someone, but starting over for the newborn at 42. How things changed. We were not the perfect children, but her love saw thru all our shenanigans.
We needed her, loved her and we thank God everyday for her. We couldn't have been more blessed.
