Nancy’s life was marked by devotion to her family and a steady, hard-working spirit. In all she did, she showed a thoughtful care for others—one that made her deeply cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Nancy was a nurse, LPN. After her children were in elementary school, she made the decision to pursue nursing school, a choice that reflected both determination and a quiet strength. She began her career at Midway Manor Nursing Home, then served at the LA Blood Center for 14 years. After leaving the blood center, she continued her work at LSU Medical Center for another 14 years, giving of herself with consistent dedication and compassion. Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her patients.
Beyond her professional life, Nancy brought beauty and grace into the lives of others through her remarkable creativity. She was a wedding planner before there was such a thing, finding joy in making wedding cakes, decorating, arranging florals, and sewing. With a gifted eye and careful hands, she had a talent for making something ordinary look very elegant. Her love for her grandchildren was evident in the delight she took in babysitting them and in the gifts she loved giving. From her great-grandchildren, she earned the title she treasured most: Fancy Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Sibley; her mother, Mildred H. Sibley; her sisters, Katherine, Pat, and Joy; and her brothers, Kenneth and Jerry.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, John A. Zucco Jr.; children, Susan Couvillion (Alan) and John Zucco (Monette); grandchildren, Amber Estes (Stephen), Matthew Couvillion, Jon-Michael Remedies, and Kristy Hankins (Michael); great-grandchildren, Blakely, Brynlee, Brooklyn, Hunter, Kinzly; along with numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved like her own children.
