

Our loving Mother and Memaw left her earthly home of 96 years to be with the Lord in her heavenly home the morning of February 7, 2017. Most important in her life was her Lord, her family, and her church family, which she joyfully served them all.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stewart will be at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, 9204 Youree Dr., Shreveport, LA at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, Feb 11, 2017. Visitation will be at Centuries Memorial, Mansfield Road, Friday, Feb 10 from 5:00-7:00p.m.
Mrs. Stewart was the great granddaughter of J.J. Rains, founder of Marthaville, Louisiana, in 1851. Mrs. Stewart was born and raised in Mansfield, LA and was known as a writer of poetry–several published in Christian magazines. She has served in different positions of church work such as Children’s Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Auxiliary Leader, Prayer Coordinator, and Fundraiser. She loved young people and would always have a word of encouragement for those that gathered at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Stewart, parents Earl and Rose Scott, and 7
of her 8 siblings.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Melody Gilmore, son Bill Marr and wife Bobbie, son Jerry Marr and wife Janel, brother Dan Scott and wife Albertine Scott, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren as well as many nephews
and one niece.
Pallbearers will be Darrel Scott, Danny Scott, Albert Scott, Nathan Scott, Stephen
Scott, and Travis Hodges.
The Family would like to extend a thank you for all the compassion and care shown over the
past 4 years to the staff at the Guest House. We extend a special thanks to Aides Zap, Rose,
and Angel, wound care nurses Anita, Marilyn, and Brenda, physical therapists Kristi and
Amanda. We would also like to thank Aime Hospice nurses Sherri, Donna, and Brandy during
Mrs. Stewarts final days. Mother/Memaw/Sis. Stewart/Aunt Nomie is suffering no more and
finally in the arms of Jesus.
