Nellie Ruth Digby was born on September 2, 1930 to the late Arthur Lee Acreman and Fannie Temple Acreman. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She was known to her family as "Grandma Digby".
Nellie loved God with all her heart and found joy in spreading His word. The first question she would ask someone when meeting them would be "Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?" She had a true passion for teaching Sunday School at Summer Grove Baptist Church and Levy Street Baptist. She taught the three and four year olds, for over 50 years.
She was a gifted cook, known for many dishes but mainly her chicken-n-dumplings. She cherished her family and loved spending every moment she could with them. She always shared kindness and prayers with those around her.
Nellie went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 19, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 94. She is now reunited with her husband of 46 years, Roy M. Digby, Jr., her children, Roy Lee and Gerita Campos, parents, two brothers and four sisters. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Diane Hollifield and husband, Greg, Randy Digby and wife, Elaine and Donna Basco and husband, John; grandchildren, Jason Robison and wife, Kathy, Rachel Ren and husband Scott, Justin Campos, Melissa Morris and husband, Adam, Jennifer Morgan and husband, Jared, Lauren Gholson and husband, Ryan, Matthew Digby and wife, Alicia, Michael Basco and wife, Ashley, Garret Basco and Laurie Tuccio and husband, Gene; 19 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
