

Ona Lois Silkwood McKaskle, age 89, passed away on September 15th. Lois was born to the late James and Ermina Silkwood. She grew up in Bradley, Arkansas, where she shared fond memories of her years playing on the girls' high school basketball team. Lois moved to Shreveport where she graduated from Dodd College. She worked in New Orleans and Shreveport for the Department of Defense until 1956 when she devoted her life to the love and care of her family. Lois married the late G.W. McKaskle in 1948 and they lived their married life in Shreveport, Louisiana where they raised their three children. Lois and her family were active members of Caddo Heights Baptist Church for many years. She was an excellent cook, expert seamstress and loved to go antiquing. She was a loving and caring friend, wife, mother and grandmother. Lois leaves to cherish her memory her children and their spouses, Linda Carter, Gary and Polly McKaskle, and Terry McKaskle; two grandchildren and spouses, Ashley and husband and Christopher and Victoria McKaskle. Lois was preceded in death by her loving grandson, Gary Wayne McKaskle. Our lives are forever enriched because of Lois' love, guidance and strength.
A service celebrating the life of Ona Lois McKaskle will be conducted Monday, September 19, 2016, 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. The Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home.
