Mrs. Opal L. Higgins Bush

Services celebrating the life of Opal L. Bush, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Opal was born on September 14, 1932 in Many, LA and passed away on July 7, 2011 in Shreveport,

LA. She was a member of Fort Jessup Baptist Church, Fort Jessup, LA. Family was very important to Opal. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Preceding Opal in death was her husband of 45 years, Cecil W. Bush, her parents, Jesse James Higgins and Ettie E. Mitchell Higgins and sisters, Viola Rivers, Allie Pilgrim and Vera Lee Broadway.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Opal is her son, Michael J. Bush and wife Amy of Shreveport, LA; sister, Georgia Clanton and husband Roy of Dallas, TX; brother, Truly Higgins and wife Annie Mae of Pineville, LA; one grandson, Michael S. Bush and wife Dawn of Bossier City, LA and one great granddaughter, Chelsey Bush. Mrs. Bush is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Heritage Manor-Stratmore for their care and devotion shown to Opal. The family also wishes to thank Betty Alderman for her dedication, care and support.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Caddo Council on Aging, 1700 Buckner Street, Suite 2400, Shreveport, LA-71101.
