Patricia Coddington Minton, age 82, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died April 28, 2023 at her home in Baton Rouge. Patricia was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and the youngest of 5 children to John Phillip and Auda Lou Coddington. Patricia, raised in Shreveport, attended Byrd High School. While at Byrd, Patricia loved band and was first chair, first clarinet. Her high school accomplishments also included meeting her future husband of 52 years, Thomas “Tommy” Minton. Patricia and Tommy started their life together in 1958, but the family soon increased with birth of Kelley and Phyllis. Tommy and Patricia moved from Shreveport to Alexandria and eventually to Baton Rouge. While life was busy for the young Minton family, Patricia always had time for Kelley and Phyllis including organizing the neighborhood haunted house, supporting the girls in school activities, and hosting the occasional make-believe Aunt Hazel family visit. Patricia had many hobbies that kept her busy including painting, woodworking, crafting, sewing, and gardening, but most dear to her heart was ancestry. She coupled her ancestry research into visiting places her ancestors once lived. That resulted into organizing trips with her sisters and nieces to explore off the beaten paths of her ancestral roots. While Patricia will be remembered for many of these activities, most will remember her for the love and care she had for her family.
Patricia is survived by her brother Phillip Coddington of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Phyllis Minton Covert and her husband Joseph of Baton Rouge; daughter Kelley Minton Sanders and her husband Wayne of Cypress,TX; grandchildren Brian Sanders and his wife Lindsey and their children Charlotte and Catherine of Katy, TX; Steve and his wife Kristin Sanders of Brisbane Australia; her sister-in-law Lisa McGowan Johnson of Carthage, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins which includes her loving, dedicated caregiver for the last two years, Annette Adams. She is proceeded in death by her husband Tommy Minton, her infant children Rhonda and Thomas Minton, parents John and Auda Lou Coddington, her sisters Anna Margaret Adams, Mary Waller, and brother John “Sonny” Coddington.
