Patricia Burleson Owens 1937-2019

Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. It is with deep sorrow that we the surviving family announce the passing of Patricia Burleson Owens on September the 3rd 2019. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years William B. Owens, her three loving sons and daughters in law: Samuel B. and Casey Owens, William M. Owens, and James M. and Susan Owens. Also survived by six loving Grand Children: Chaise B. and Jodi Owens, Tyler H. and Morgan Owens, Danna B. Wehrle, Patrick Owens, Amy Owens, Zack Owens, and three loving Great grandchildren: Logan P. Smith, Josie G. Owens, and Grant T. Owens. Visitation is at 9AM Monday, September 9 2019 at Centuries Memorial park followed by the service of remembrance performed by Rev. Chris Hough, Chaplain of Garden Park Rehab Center, and Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church at 10am. Patricia will be laid to rest afterward at Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana. Serving as Poll bearers will be Harold Williamson, Joe Pitts, Robert Bridges, Tommy Williams, Chaise Owens, And Tyler Owens. The Owens Family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Garden Park Rehabilitation Center for their outstanding care for our dear Patricia during her final days.

I remember Mike and I caught the scent of cookies being baked one day. Mike made a move for them. Mama Owens said, “You know the rules. You gotta go through me to get it.” She dropped into a perfect 3-point stance like a football lineman. Mike got into a 4-point stance and tried to plow her over. He didn’t move her at all. A little while later, she gave us cookies anyway.
