Paulette McCary

on May 31, 2021, at the age of 78. She is predeceased by her parents Cecil McCary and Leila Catherine Crenshaw McCary of Shreveport.

Paulette grew up in the community of Cedar Grove and was graduated from Byrd High School.

She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Arts at Louisiana State University at Monroe.

She received her Master’s Degree of Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

She worked for the state of Louisiana in the foster care and the advocacy for children departments for many years. A Licensed Certified Social Worker, she loved working with children in Baton Rouge and Little Rock.

Surviving her is her uncle, Billy E. Crenshaw of Oxford, Ms. Also surviving her are 13 beloved cousins. She is predeceased by 12 aunts and uncles and two cousins, Lee Crenshaw of Shreveport and Robin Kathleen Crenshaw of Marietta, Ga.

Special thanks to longtime friend and devoted caregiver Tressie Bass of Arkadelphia, Ark. and to the

Bass Family for their longtime support and kindness. Paulette was predeceased by Tressie’s son Jeffery John Bass.

Deep gratitude to cousin Larry Johnson and his wife, Daisy, as well as to cousin Kristy Crenshaw and

her mother, Evelyn, for visiting Paulette when she was in hospice care. Also greatly appreciated are cousins Lisa Langley, who for many years coordinated relatives’ luncheons with Paulette in Shreveport, and Mark and Maria Crenshaw who arrange Crenshaw Family Reunions.

A celebration of Paulette’s life will be held on Friday, April 29, with a memorial in celebration of her uncle, Eddie Crenshaw, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Park Chapel at 10 a.m. in Shreveport.
