Peggy “Gigi” Schlemmer, age 98 was born on the 12th of August 1927 and passed away peacefully on the 23rd of September, 2025. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana she was a Godly woman who served her Lord and community with grace.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Sanchez (Carl), grandchildren Nannette Wicker-Essick (Jonathan), Gil Wicker (Darlene), Kenny Sanchez (Robin), Carla Sanchez Lindsey (Steve), Kelli Sanchez Green (Stephen).
Her pride and joy was her family including 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edna Sullivan Lunsford and Chris Lunsford Sr., her brother Chris Lunsford Jr. and her husband of 48 years Alfred Schlemmer.
As a young woman she attended Byrd High School and Centenary College, she worked many years in the oil and gas industry with Ohio Oil Co. and Texas Eastern among others, she was also an entrepreneur owning multiple businesses including Bits and Things and Bon Temp, La. gift shop.
She was a gifted seamstress and artist creating beautiful pieces that she sold but often shared with family and are treasured memories. In addition to her creative and business mind, she was always seeking new opportunities to serve God and her community. One of her greatest passions was her Bible studies. She attended Bible Studies Fellowship (BSF) weekly and made many life-long friends while studying His word. She was a devoted disciple and this was evident to everyone in how she lived her life.
Joining her in her life journey were her beloved pets, mostly poodles and Miss Kitty who was her constant companion for the last 10 years. God blessed her with 98 years on this earth because she had so many things to accomplish and she did them with grace and through Him, including her greatest accomplishment and best friend, her daughter Patricia whom she loved with all of her heart and soul.
A visitation for Peggy will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108 followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM. Bro. Don Francis will officiate the service. A private family burial will take place at Forest Park West Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Jacob Essick, Carlton Lindsey, Steve Lindsey, and Kenny Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are Noah Essick, Wilson Lindsey, and Justin Wicker.
