Reverend Albert Richardson was born on September 2, 1930 in New Salem, Texas to Forrest and Addie Richardson. He was 1 of 9 children growing up in very difficult time during the depression.
If you knew Bro. Al you know that he had two passions, preaching the Gospel and fishing. For over 50 years, he pastored churches in both Texas and Louisiana, even planting Countryside Baptist in Mooringsport. During this time, it was not uncommon for him to call two or three from the congregation to make up a trio or quartet to add to the worship service. He was fond of old hymns and partial to a good tenor. Though he retired several times, he couldn’t give up preaching. Found in his Bible was his business card, which reads – “I am ready to preach the gospel to you” Romans 1:15 and that is just the way it was.
After the pulpit his next favorite place would have been anyplace he could drop a line. His sons will confirm that no matter how hot the day might be and no matter if the fish were biting or not he could sit for hours out on the water with a fishing pole in his hands. In the corner of his room at Garden Park was his pole, there was always the hope of one more time.
Al was also the proud father of Danny Richardson and wife Ann, Rev. Steve Richardson and wife Debra, Allene McCarty who preceded him in death and Toni Dozier. He also leaves two brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Today we celebrate Bro. Al’s 88 years of life and legacy, and we have this reminder taken from his well worn Bible – Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
To God be the Glory!
