Shreveport, LA- A memorial service celebrating the life of Richard C. Jones, 82, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. following the memorial service.
Beloved husband and father, Richard C. "Dick" Jones was released from his battle with alzheimer's disease and cancer on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Dick was born November 10, 1932 in Waynesburg, PA to Carl and Clarice Jones. He was the seventh child in a family of 4 boys and 4 girls. He graduated from Clay Batelle High School in Blacksville, West Virginia. He was very much a patriot and joined the US Navy in 1950 as a morse code operator. While at sea he served on the U.S.S. Macon. After his return from the Navy he married Frances Joann Gump and worked for Texas Eastern Oil Company for 17 years. They had three beautiful children Vicki, Rick and Angie. They moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1962. The family then moved to Tehran, Iran for 4 years. When they moved back home to Shreveport in 1974 he worked for AIP Products until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Meadow Lake Country Club. Dick was a 32nd degree mason, served as a Shriner and was a member of the VFW.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Dick is his loving wife, Frances Joann Jones; children, Vicki Harbour and husband Jim, Rick Jones and Angie Triplet and husband Wayne; grandchildren, Patrick Mann, Meagan and Amy Jones; sisters, Mary E. Kughn, Helen Berry and Carol Harms.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Craig Miller and staff for the care shown to Richard.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
