He is survived by his two children, Katherine Branning and Richard Moore II.; his two grandchildren, Brittany Toney and Lauren Nixon; his “acquired” grandchildren, Justin Toney and Jacob Nixon; his cousin, Joyce Liedecke; and his nephew, John Moore. He was deeply loved by countless family members and friends, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
From a young age, Richard stood out for his creativity and intelligence. As a child, he won a nationwide contest as Walt Disney’s Best Clown, an early sign of the artistic spirit he carried throughout his life. He was a talented artist who loved to paint, and he had a deep appreciation for beauty, learning, and self-expression.
Richard lived a full and adventurous life. In his younger years, he worked at Petrol and later served in the United States Army as a helicopter mechanic. His passion for aviation led him to earn his pilot’s license, a lifelong source of pride. He later spent many years working at the Caddo Parish Courthouse in the Assessor’s Office as a computer analyst, where he was respected for his sharp mind and dedication.
Outside of work, Richard loved fishing, riding on the boat on Cross Lake, scuba diving, traveling, and going to the beach. He was endlessly curious about everything. He was always reading, always learning, and always wanting to know more. Those who knew him well recognized his intelligence, quiet generosity, and thoughtful nature.
Richard was the kind of person who helped others silently, never seeking recognition or praise. He gave because it was simply who he was. A true family man with a kind heart, he will be remembered for his wisdom, creativity, and the steady love he showed to those around him.
