
SHREVEPORT, LA - Robert L. (Buck) Carter, 85, longtime resident of Shreveport passed away on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at his residence in The Waterford at Shreveport. He was born in Memphis, TN on June 26, 1926.
Bob attended Bartlett High School in Memphis, TN. and graduated from Memphis State University with Cum Laude honors in 1957, with a BS in Science. He became a CPA in January, 1959, and joined Seidman & Seidman CPA firm in Memphis. In 1964, he left to join Weis Butane in Brinkley to help them sell the business. Bob moved to Shreveport in 1965, to join Kast Metals. He was Secretary, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer and served on the Board of Directors. Bob served in the United States Air Force OSS (Office of Strategic Service) from June 1950, until June 1954, and served in several countries in Europe during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport.
While working in Brinkley, Bob met Dorothy Hiley Adrion, the love of his life. They were married in 1966, in Hot Springs, AR and moved to make their home in Shreveport, LA. Bob was a member of the Eastridge Country Club. He was an avid golfer and played most of his life. He was a lover of all sports and really looked forward to football season. He also enjoyed the horse races in Hot Springs. He also loved to travel and he and Dorothy visited many interesting countries.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Hiley Carter, who passed away on January 21, 2006, and his beloved parents Harry E. and Dollie Carter. He is survived by his brother, Clarence E. Carter and wife Ann and their daughters, Connie Thrailkill of Houston, TX, and Sue Jeddy; son, Ed Carter, Jr.; step-son, Robert Adrion and wife, Ann of Boerne, TX; granddaughter, Holly Minnig and husband Jeff, and children, Sara, Tori and Robbie all of Phoenix,AZ.; grandson, Mike Adrion and wife Tonya, and children Cadi , Alex and Derek Adrion, all of Houston, TX.; two nieces, Beth Bynum and husband Vernon of Brinkley, AR. and Anita Beasley and husband Chester of Nesbit, MS.
Visitation and services will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, with Chaplain Dana Casey presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Centuries Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
The family wished to give special thanks to his caregivers, DeLinda Roberson and Ola Roberson; the nurses of St. Joseph Hospice; his dear friend, Chaplain Dana Casey and the staff of The Waterford.
