Mr. Robert (Bob/Granddad) Lee Cecil, Sr., born in Longview Texas on December 10, 1932, and longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, went peacefully to be with our Lord on March 10, 2022. Robert, a Navy veteran and electrician was also father to eight children. He had a great love of nature and the outdoors. His love of nature was easily seen in his love of flower gardening for his beloved wife of 63 years, Julia. He also loved spending time at the lake, camping and partaking of watersports and teaching many family and friends how to swim and water ski at Lake O’ the Pines in Jefferson, Texas, where he and his family spent many summers over the years. He also greatly enjoyed hunting both long gun and bow seasons and enjoyed teaching his sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons how to shoot a bow. He also loved his poodle, Princess, like one of the family.
Mr. Robert (Bob) Cecil was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Julia Faye Price Cecil, son Lewis “Randle” Lovett Cecil, parents and grandparents.
He is survived by two daughters, Dianne L. Cecil White and Mischelle Lovett Cecil Anfinson and five sons Robert L. Cecil, Jr., David Allen Cecil, Douglas Matthew Cecil, Eric Wayne Cecil and Timothy Erwin Cecil; twenty-seven grandchildren, Stephanie Cecil, Benjamin “Ben” Cecil, Blake Cecil, Bryce Cecil, Perry Cecil Welch, John Cecil Welch, Aaron Cecil Welch, Barbara Lipscomb, Richard “Reese” Cecil, Nicholas Cecil Lovett, Alicia Walker, Michael Davis Jr., Jason Davis, Christopher Davis, Jeffrey Cassidy, Jennifer White, Cassey White, Robert “Leigh” James, Donovan James, Brandy James Bailey, Lauralee Cecil, Cameron Cecil, Tayler Cecil, Douglas Cecil, Jr., Erica Cecil, Kellie Cecil-Medina, Jennifer Cecil, and numerous great-grand-children and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating the services will be Senior Pastor Carl Rhodes of First United Methodist Church. He will be laid to rest following the services at Forest Park West, 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA. Pallbearers will be Robert “Leigh” James, Donovan James, Tyler Cecil, Nicolas Medina, Caedon James, and Caelob James. Honorary Pallbearers will be Luis Medina and Jason Davis.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Senior Pastor Carl Rhodes of First United Methodist Church, numerous helping hands at St. Joseph Hospice, Carpenter House and his personal caregivers.
