

Services for Robert Millwood Turner, Sr. will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Brian Caldwell , great nephew, officiating, being assisted by Rev. Rocky Maddox of Rose Park Baptist Church. Interment will follow. Visitation with the family will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Robert Turner was born in Atoka, Oklahoma on June 9, 1933 and passed away on May 22, 2016 at the age of 82 in Shreveport, Louisiana where he resided for many years.
Robert Turner is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry and Olga Anne Potter Turner; five brothers, John H. Turner, Charles N. D. Turner, Roy Lee Turner, Alfred E. Turner and Joshua E. Turner; five sisters, Linnie B. Morgan, Naida E. Turner, Opal Turner, Florine A. Britt and Rosalie Graham.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Christene Bass Turner; sons Robert M. Turner, Jr. and wife Leslie of Shreveport; Alfred Douglas Turner of Shreveport; daughters Arlene M. Fuller and husband John of Blanchard, and Barbara J. Pfister and husband John of Haughton; grandchildren, Shannon L. Williams and husband Daniel of Doyline; Jeffrey S. Fuller and wife Jill of Brandon, MS., Karen R. Fuller of Austin, Texas; Patricia A. Whitten and husband Colt of Stanley, and Sean L. Turner and wife Alexis of Shreveport; great grandchildren Aslynn M. and Raemi M. Williams, Cameron M. and Anna R. Fuller; Skyler J. and Lydia K. Whitten, Hannah G., Isabella R. and James H. Turner, and a host of nieces and nephews.
As a Vietnam veteran, Turner proudly served in the United States Army from 1950-1973 as Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.). He served as a Military Policeman, Army Nuclear Weapons Basic Maintenance Specialist, and Sr. Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician. He also served on the Escort Team for President Richard Nixon. Turner was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation, Good Conduct 7th Award, Armed Forces Reserve with Mobilization Device, National Defense 2nd Award, Vietnam Service with 4 stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was a proud supporter of the War Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana and the Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville. He was also a proud supporter and fan of the Shreveport Steamer of the WFL, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs, University of Oklahoma Sooners Football, Louisiana Tech Football, and Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert M. Turner, Jr., Douglas Turner, John Fuller, John Pfister, Daniel Williams and Paul David Parham. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeffrey Fuller, Sean Turner, Colt Whitten, Johnny Lee Turner and Frank Hornbaker.
