Roberttene Saffel Lee-Clayton was born in Longview, Texas on March 17, 1932 to Eva Lena Dumas Saffel and Robert Colvin Saffel. Roby, as she was affectionately known, entered into her Heavenly home on Tuesday May 17, 2022 at the age of 90.
Roby married the love of her life, Hollis Wayne Clayton, November 8, 1954 in Marshall, Texas. She enjoyed decorating birthday cakes and making desserts. She was eventually tagged as the "Dessert Queen" by her family and friends. She liked sewing, embroidering and patchwork. She was devoted to her family and her faith. She received salvation and was baptized at the age of 16 at Southside Baptist Church on Southern Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a member at Calvary Baptist Church upon her passing. She loved her life and thought of herself as truly blessed despite her health issues. Roby will be truly missed, but her family finds comfort that she is with her Lord and her beloved husband.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Peggy Clayton Harshfield with husband Craig, Thomas Wayne Clayton with wife Connie, Mary Elaine Clayton, and Judy Lee Williamson with husband Dennis; extended family members and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Roby will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Associate Pastor Will Simmons of Calvary Baptist Church.
