Marie as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She enjoyed watching the birds and walking. She liked playing volleyball, working puzzles, sewing and crafting, and making way too many goodies at Christmas. Marie also loved spoiling her 15 grandchildren,12 great grandchildren, and many others she adored. She loved watching the Cardinals play baseball, especially when they were winning. She frequently took her children when they were young, to visit nursing homes to read and sing to the residence. There was always a place at her table for anyone who would allow her to love them.
She was a graduate of James Bowie High School in Sims, Texas. She was also a member at Brookwood Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana since 1987 where she served several roles. A sunday school teacher for many years, a member of the Homebound Ministry and that of providing meals for the members and guest who had attended funeral services for church family members. She spent much of her life serving others who weren't able to do things for themselves, even when it was difficult for her to get around, herself. She always enjoyed joining with other ladies from Brookwood to socialize and eat at Johnny's Catfish.
