He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1952. He completed his apprenticeship, becoming a journeyman electrician in 1956, before serving 4 years in the U.S. Army. Charlie had been a member of the IBEW 194 for 68 years. He was a construction electrician by trade and because of his skilled hands he could make anything from a boat to a beautiful piece of furniture.
He is survived by his wife Betty, whom he loved dearly. July 19th of this year they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Charlie loved the word of God and was a faithful member at First Baptist Greenwood. Along with his wife, left to cherish his memories are his children Lisa and Mark Woodard, Scott and Zondra Bayne, and of course, his very special granddaughter Zoe Elizabeth Bayne.
Honoring him as pallbearers are: Larry Johnson, Allen Johnson, Odis Johnson Jr., Troy Myers, Mark Woodard and Scott Bayne.
Service will be held at 10:30 am on March 18, 2021 at Centuries Memorial on Mansfield Road. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am preceding the service.
