Ms. Sadie received a degree in Culinary Arts, a fitting foundation for a life marked by generous hospitality. She lost her mother at the age of 12. This changed the trajectory of her entire life, and resulted in her becoming the very determined person she was as an adult. She loved to cook and feed people, finding simple, meaningful joy in nourishing others and bringing them together. She found expression in oil painting, where patience and care could be seen in each thoughtful stroke. Ms. Sadie's creativity also extended to making and selling custom wreaths to coworkers and friends, as well as taking extra care to wrap Christmas and birthday presents beautifully. She loved to have fun, often gambling at the local casino and winning jackpots. Later in life, she really enjoyed participating in country line dancing events at her local senior center.
Ms. Sadie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Monroe; her grandson, Kenneth Greenwood; her father, James Walker Prine; her mother, Gaynell Rogers Prine; her sisters, Beatrice, Aliece, Beaulah, Pauline, and Lois Marie; and her brothers, James Walker Jr., Thomas, Clinton Ray, and Robert.
She is survived by her son, William Greenwood; her daughter, Sandy Hickman; her grandchildren, Lesley, Katie, Kelsey, and Natalie; her great-grandchildren, Marie and Kaiden; her sister, Angelena Prine Kobs; her half brother, Danial Prine; and dozens of nieces and nephews and their families and extended family members.
