Samizel Tyndall Davis, born on November 18, 1927, in Paraloma, Arkansas, to Otis and Comizel Tyndall, passed away on August 15, 2025 at the age of 97. She lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to her faith, family, and community.
She spent her early years in Paraloma and attended Rankin Street Elementary in Ashdown, Arkansas, followed by Ashdown High School. She later attended Texarkana Junior College and, in 1942, represented her community at the second Girls State in Arkansas.
On June 20, 1946, she married Hollis Davis, Sr. at First Baptist Church in Ashdown. The couple moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1947, where she began working at South Central Bell Telephone. She and Hollis built a loving home, raising two sons, Hollis Davis, Jr and Steve Davis.
Her deep commitment to faith led her to join Trinity Heights Baptist Church in Shreveport, where she served in many roles. She also enjoyed fellowship and recreation through golf, becoming a member of the Northwood Country Club.
In 1975, she began working as a church hostess for Trinity Heights. She retired from church work in 1981, but continued serving her community, driving a school bus from 1964 until her retirement in 1981.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith, her unwavering work ethic, and her love for her family. She leaves behind her son Hollis Davis Jr and his wife Pamela Davis, her grandchildren Bryce Davis and Delaney Stanley, great grandchildren Eleanor Davis, Mattie Jo Davis, and Finley Stanley. She was preceded in death by husband Hollis Davis, Sr and son, Stephen Davis.
A visitation for Samizel will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of life at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71108. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
