FRIERSON, LA --Shirley Faye Camp Bradford went to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ
on July 17th, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 6th, 1941 to Jesse Dalton and Lula Mae Camp.
She was a 1958 graduate of Fair Park High School in Shreveport.
In 1957, she married Charles B. Bradford Sr., and together they raised two sons, Chuck and Randy.
Shirley was very proud to be the second female to graduate as a licensed Barber in the state of Louisiana from the Shreveport Vocational Institute (Vo-Tech) of Caddo Parish.
Later in life, she retired as a barber after working many years at the Uptown Barber Shop in the Uptown Shopping Center at the corner of Pierremont and Line Avenue.
Shirley was a long time resident of Frierson, Louisiana and a very active member of the Frierson Baptist Church, which she loved very much.
She was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fire District Number 9 in Frierson, of which she contributed countless numbers of hours honoring the local Fire Department Personnel and First-Responders through various activities such as Fish-Fries, Garages-Sales, Monetary Contributions and anything their committee could think of to show respect to these fine professionals.
Shirley was preceded in death by both of her parents, Jesse Dalton Camp and Lula Mae McCall; her husband, Charles B. Bradford Sr., and her sisters; Sandra Rascoe and Francine McCormack.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Chuck Bradford and wife Carmen, Randy Bradford, her brother Jerry Camp and wife Barbara, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
Grandchildren: Jeremy Bradford, Laura Arnold(Heath), Scott Bradford, Adrianna Webb(Kyler) and Chelsea Bradford.
Great-Grandchildren: Haileigh Smith(Copelin), Morgan Bradford, Jordan Bradford(Dakota), Hannah Arnold, Jaycee Arnold, Kenidee Arnold, Brodie Bradford, Charleigh Webb and Kaeson Webb.
Visitation will be at 9am followed by graveside services at 10am on Saturday, July 22nd, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home and Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mel Campbell, Pastor of Frierson Baptist Church and interment will follow.
Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed. She was also a big supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s hospital and all the work that they do for children that have cancer.
At her request and in lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
The family would also like to express a special thanks to Brother Mel Campbell and Terri and Happy Tyler of Frierson Baptist Church who provided Shirley with countless hours of Spiritual Support during her times of need, as well as Shreveport Manor Nursing Home and LifePath Hospice Care.
