Shirley spent her early years of schooling in Trilby, OH after which she graduated from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH, with a degree in education. While at Bowling Green she met and married the love of her life, Richard Gunther. After graduation, she taught at schools in Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma and finally in Louisiana. She retired from the Bossier Parish School Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Sophia Dunham. She is survived by her four children: Richard Jr. (Karen) of Mandeville, LA, Keith of Shreveport, LA, Sandra Weidlein (Dan) of Perth, Australia and Sharyn Gustafson (John) of Shreveport, LA; her five grandchildren: Ryan and Katie Gunther, Stephen Clark and Derek and Kyle Weidlein.
A graveside service celebrating the life of Mrs. Gunther is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 2 PM at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, LA.
