Stephen “Steve” Gillum was welcomed home to Glory on November 19, 2021 at the age of 61. Steve was born on May 27, 1960 to Charles and Novie Gillum in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He graduated from Southwood High School where he met Cindy, the love of his life, forever best friend, and wife of 42 years. He was a dedicated employee at Libbey Glass for over 30 years. Steve was a successful junior golfer and enjoyed playing on the golf teams at SHS and Centenary College. Golf continued to be one of his favorite hobbies as well as fishing and hunting. He loved all things sports related, music, singing, cooking, and the outdoors. He was a servant leader that always had an open door for everyone. Steve left a lasting impact on countless lives during his many years serving the youth and college & career at Summer Grove Baptist Church. Whether it was teaching Sunday school, hosting DNOW, serving at Jacob’s Well, cooking on Wednesday nights, or singing with the praise team, Steve enjoyed serving the Lord.

Steve was one of the most selfless, hardworking, and kind men that existed. He carried countless titles from husband, brother, son, and uncle to Dad, Paw, Mac G, coach and friend. Whether it was his corny dad jokes, his words of wisdom, or the abundance of patience he had while teaching us things, there are endless ways he would show us that he loves us. Ms Cindy & family, we are very sorry to hear about the loss of Steve. Growing up, we spent many a day playing golf out at MEADOWLAKE & have many fond memories of our time spent out there. Steve was a very good player and a fierce competitor but better than that, a fine gentleman.

May the Lord continue to bless you all during this trying time.

With Deepest Sympathy, Tom & Rose Ann Bachman
