Sundena Carr Russell, age 64, loved by family as Cindy, and friends as Sunny, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was a true Warrior Champion; brave and courageous until the very end. She is now celebrating her victory with Jesus.

She was a nurse at Heritage Manor South over 25 years where she loved and was loved by her residents and work family although her favorite job was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to fish, hunt a good bargain, Elvis, The Dallas Cowboys, her dogs, to sit on the back porch while watching her humming birds, and working in her flowers. Occasionally you could find her spinning the reels on a good slot machine.
Cindy is survived by her husband of almost 18 years, Tommy Russell; her children, son David Tobin and wife Christina, daughter Tricia Burns and husband Bobby, and son Jerome “J.T.” Murphy and wife Shelli. She had 9 grandchildren Brooks Tobin, Kelsey Tobin, Mason Tobin, Shelby Tobin, Jasmine Murphy, Tasia Burns, Bobby “Bubba” Burns, Landry Murphy, and Aspen Tobin along with 3 great grandchildren Conner & Livia Tobin and Rorii Walker. She is also survived by her siblings, Linda Reese and husband James, Richard Tullos and wife Diane, Jeanie Nichols and husband Steve, Chuck Carr and wife Debbie, Janet Hattaway and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father and mother, Charles & Bobbie Jean Carr.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 5pm with Minister Eddie Briery officiating. Centuries Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Christus Highland Cancer Treatment Center, the Hospital Staff, and the staff at Grace Home. Special thanks to her family and friends who came in to help when needed.
Cindy will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. We Love You Mom.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
