Thomas "Marshall" Swann

SHREVEPORT, LA – Funeral services for T.M. “Marshall” Swann, will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home Wednesday, January 14, 2015, from 6-8 p.m.

Marshall was born January 5, 1926 in Greenville, TX and passed away January 11, 2015, in Shreveport, LA. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lawanda “Tootsie” Swann and his parents. He is survived by one daughter, Sheila Smith and husband, Marshall of Haughton, LA; two sons, John Swann of Stonewall, LA, and Robert Swann and wife Cathy of Terry Town, LA; six grandchildren, Ken Smith, Shane Smith, April Packett, Jennifer Turner, Brandon Swann, and Tim Swann; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth Marshall Smith, III “Trey”, and McKenzie Smith.

Marshall proudly served his country during WWII and The Korean Conflict. He was released from the military in 1951 and began his career with International Harvester Co., where he continued to work as the company changed ownership from Craig Equipment to Rafferty International and then Twin State Trucks, from where he retired in May of 1996. Throughout his career he held several positions ranging from sales to Vice President and even part owner during which time he won many awards for his achievements and left his mark on the industry, for which people still talk about. While he worked through these different positions one thing he learned for certain was that selling is what he loved most because he could be out with the people, telling his stories and doing what he loved.

Honoring Mr. Swann as pallbearers are Jack Harrison, Charles Williams, Mike Murphy, Ken Smith, Shane Smith, and Brandon Swann.

Mr. Swann’s children would like to offer a very special thank you to their father’s lifetime friends, Buddy and Shirley Johnston for their love and support for the past 65 years.
