

Tom Neil Havard went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2016. Life Celebration Services will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 10:00AM until the service.
Born on September 25, 1925, he was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Susie Havard and his brother, W.T. Havard. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Havard; daughter, Renae Chandler and husband Harman; sons, Cade Havard and wife Anneal, Neil Havard and wife Laura, Sid and wife Lena, and Tommy West and wife Pam; sister, Kate Nelson; brother, Bobby Havard and wife Dottie; as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Over the course of his life Tom accomplished many things. He was a Navy Veteran that served valiantly in WWII and aboard the USS Saratoga at the battle of Iwo Jima. After which he received the Purple Heart. Tom worked much of his life in sales and management in the motor freight business. He was also a proud member of the Shriners and a 32nd degree Mason. Tom was an avid outdoorsman. Upon retirement he took up a passion for gardening and excelled at growing many things including giant sunflowers. His “green thumb” will be talked about for years to come, making statements like “No weeds are allowed in my garden.”.
The family would like to express much appreciation to his three compassionate caregivers. He will always be loved and dearly missed.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Walter Chandler, Stuart Havard, Dylan Havard, Doug Havard, Chance Havard, Ethan Quarles, and Joe West.
