Valerie Janey Reynolds Wilson passed away April 17th, 2026, after a long battle with cancer at Heritage Manor Stratford surrounded by family and the wonderful staff that cared for her these many years.
Janie was born on January 21, 1944, in Joaquin, Texas to the late Elzie B. Harvey and Mary Lurlene Mayfield Harvey. As the youngest of four siblings, a tiny 1lb premature child born at home, she was known as a fighter her entire life. She battled multiple different cancers throughout her precious life and always maintained her wonderful sense of humor making everyone around her smile.
She was an avid reader and loved her romance novels. I’m sure she went on many adventures in her books. She was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord and Savior and is no doubt enjoying being in His presence today.
Janie was known as the aunt, sister or cousin, who rode her 3-wheeled trike all over Cedar Grove. She worked most of her life at Goodwill and loved everyone there. She was so carefree and would do anything for you. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
Janie is survived by her oldest sibling, Dalton Jack Harvey, multiple nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Janie was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lurleen Carpenter, father, Elzie Harvey, and siblings, Billy Ray Harvey and Marilyn Ozell Henderson.
Rest in sweet peace Aunt Janie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, on May 1, 2026, at 11:00 am.
“I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven gates.”
