A lifelong resident of Stonewall, Louisiana, Vicki faced the challenges of disability throughout her life, yet she never let them define who she was. She greeted the world with a gentle spirit and a remarkable capacity for joy.
One of the greatest sources of that joy was music. Whether she was listening to her favorite songs or singing along in her soft, heartfelt way, music lit up her world. It was in those moments—tapping her fingers, humming familiar melodies, or lifting her voice to a tune she loved—that she seemed the most at peace and the most herself. Music connected her to happy memories, to the people she loved, and to a sense of freedom and comfort that stayed with her throughout her life.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Josephine Nell Upton Prestidge, and her sisters, Rhonda Prestride Whatley, Dana Prestridge Garner, and Linda Myrle Prestridge Johnson—Linda being not only her sister but also her devoted caretaker for 30 years. Their bond was one of deep love and unwavering dedication.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Allen Johnson, along with many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law, all of whom loved her dearly. They will remember her gentle nature, her resilience, and the way her face lit up whenever a favorite song began to play.
