

SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral Services celebrating the life of Virginia Louise Gladney Covington will be held at Centuries Memorial Chapel on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 2:30 PM. with Dr. Carl Rhoads officiating the service. Visitation will be held at 1:30 PM until time of service. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Virginia passed away on April 8, 2015 following a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Melville, Louisiana on August 18, 1919 to John Bedford and Frances Carpenter Gladney. She married D. Brian Covington in September 1942. Virginia retired from National Bank of Bossier in Bossier City. She filled her retirement years with traveling, crocheting, reading and volunteering. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA and a member of “The Lucille Sexton” Sunday school class. Virginia volunteered for many years at the Goodwill Unique shop and served as past president for the organization. She also volunteered at the VA Hospital, Highland Hospital Gift Shop, RSVP, Live Oak Gift Shop and also served as past treasurer for several years for Live Oak Resident Association.
Virginia was a loving mother and grandmommy. She had a beautiful smile and a loving spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Dorothy Gladney; brother, John Gladney and granddaughter, Cassandra Covington.
She is survived by her children D. Brian Covington and wife Teresa and Gary Covington and wife Pat. Grandchildren: Jimmy Covington and wife LuAne; Brian Covington and wife Amy; Jason Stroup and Kassaundra Stroup. Great grandchildren: Elizabeth Jones and husband Wade, Kacie Paddie, Corey Paddie, Mallory Paddie, Brian Covington, Sara Werline, Katelyn Werline, Evy Marie Castillo, Lily Covington and Caroline Covington. Great-great grandchild: Tanner Jones. Sister-in- law, LaVaughn Scoggin and Brother-in-law, James Covington. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
