The gates of Heaven opened today to allow WANDA DEANE BARNETTE BAMBURG to shed the clouds of this Earth and begin enjoying her eternal life in Heaven. Beyond her reunions with friends, family, and other loved ones, she is now able to enjoy time with her Savior, our Heavenly Father, and prepare for her first birthday celebration in Heaven.
Wanda, born August 10, 1930, in Webster Parish, Louisiana, to the late Sanders and Ivy Lee Barnette, enjoyed the majority of her Earthly years living in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1948, she married her teen sweetheart/husband, Elton Bamburg, and together created their legacies, lifetime friendships, and family. Wanda was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her Daughter, Nell Buckley-Coody, her Granddaughter, Hannah Shafer, and her Great Granddaughter, Julia Shepherd.
Wanda spent her later years as a Jacksonville, Arkansas, resident, doting on her Family and meeting new friends who became extended family. In addition to those, she is survived by her Daughters, Sandy Shepherd (Billy) and Annette Shafer (Jimmy), and her Son, Bob Bamburg. Wanda is also survived by her Grandchildren, Brent Buckley (Angel), Chris Shepherd (Kelly), Jennifer Buckley, Casey Shepherd (Lisa), Josh Buckley (Tiffeny), Chas Shafer (Megan), Elise Bamburg Taylor (Trint), and Joel Bamburg. Wanda’s also survived by her Great Grandchildren Amanda Buckley, Brent Buckley, Jr., Mikhaila Buckley, Brayden Buckley, Christian Buckley, McKenzie Nolan (Jared), Jake Shepherd, Rori Bonner, Sophie Shepherd, John Michael Neely, Jack Shepherd, Alli Shepherd, and Scarlett Shafer, as well as her Eleven (11) Great Great Grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony for Wanda in Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. After, the family will receive guests for refreshments and then have a private graveside moment and prayer as her body is laid to rest on this Earth next to her Husband, Elton. In lieu of flowers, Wanda’s family request you make donations to your church’s music program, the Alzheimer’s Association, Autism Speaks, and/or your favorite charity.
