

Bill Dixon, 81, of Shreveport, LA- passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Monday, January 11, 2016 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with the service immediately following.
Bill was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 1, 1934. He graduated from Fair Park High School. Bill joined the military in 1957 after attending college and proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. Bill was a Journeyman Electrician and proud member of Local 194 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 55 years. He was also a member of Sunset Masonic Lodge #438 F & AM, a 32 ° Scottish Rite Mason, and an El Karubah Shriner in Shreveport. Bill was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church. His main goal was service to others through various activities including Meals On Wheels, Men’s Prayer Breakfast and countless mission trips over the years through his church. Bill was a selfless steward to his community, a loving husband and proud father and papaw; he will be missed very much by his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Frazier Dixon and Stewart Joseph Dixon and his brother Joseph Patrick Dixon Sr.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Kay Godwin Dixon; two daughters: Alicia Colvin and husband, Don, Dianna Bragg and fiancé, Eric Maurer; two sons: William Neil Dixon and wife, Gina, and David Keith Dixon; grandchildren: Ashley Spivey and husband, John, Annie Bond, Scott Dixon, Heather Callicoatte and husband, Cody, Harley Dixon, James Bragg, and Kayla Bragg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church Missions or El Karubah Shriners Hospital.
