William D. Buckley, age 81, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was born on August 19, 1941 in Blue Island, Illinois to the late William Charles and Phyllis Lillian Buckley, who both preceded him in death.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Pines, 1050 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, Louisiana 71118, followed by a mass of christian burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71118. Father Mark will be officiating the services. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Keith Malmay, Cade Malmay, Danny Wagner, Braden Wagner, Danny Klaus, Sam Marsala and Steven Muys.
Dave was a member of the United States Army and served 3 years. He retired after 35 years of service with Lorillard Company.
As an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing were his passion. Dave was very active as a member of The Men's Club at St. Mary of the Pines. He never met a stranger and always had an amazing story or joke to tell.
Lefto to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Rita Mendoza Buckley; daughters, Shari Buckley Malmay (Keith) and Deanna Buckley Wagner (Danny); sisters, Barbara Buckley (Debbie) and Vickie Lynn Buckley Fox; grandchildren, Kaleigh Malmay, Cade Malmay, Ashton Wagner and Braden Wagner; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his primary caregiver, Lillie Hughes.
