

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of William Dennie “Popsie” Chance, 65, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Dr. Charles McInturf, pastor of Woodridge Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 4:30 p.m. in Lebanon Cemetery in Haynesville, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, July 21, 217 at Centuries Memorial.
Dennie Chance was born March 21, 1952 to Bobby Joe and Bess Chance in Shreveport, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord and many loved ones on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Dennie, as he was known to everyone, graduated from Fair Park High School in 1970 and married his high school sweetheart. He went on to graduate from Louisiana Tech University and started a career at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant. He then went on to work for Bailsco Blades and Casting for many years until the day he passed. He was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church and was involved in teaching Royal Ambassadors and children’s Sunday school classes for many years. He was very active in his children’s school activities and coached many of their sport teams. To know him was to love him, and he always knew how to bring joy to any situation. He will always be remembered for his love for his friends and family and always being the first to help out in any situation.
Dennie was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Chance; his niece, Kelli Michele Maranto and a host of adored family and friends.
Dennie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Bock Chance, of Shreveport, Louisiana; two daughters, Melinda Hill and husband, Steven, of Shreveport, Louisiana and Melissa Willett and husband, Roger Willett, of Savannah, Georgia; three grandchildren, Caroline Jeane Hill, Alexis Gayle Willett, and Gage Montgomery Willett; mother, Bess Chance; sister, Bobbie Jean and husband Jim Maranto; nephew, Paul Maranto; and many other dearly loved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Hollenshead, Ray Boy Hollenshead, Jerry Hollenshead, Steven Hill, Roger Willett and Raymond Hollenshead, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Hollenshead, Tim Hagemeier, and Ronnie Hollenshead.
A special thanks to all of his coworkers at Bailsco Blades for supporting and encouraging him throughout his battle with cancer.
