

Shreveport, LA- William H. “Bill” Duncan joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the age of 90. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016, 2:00 pm, at Centuries Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm just before the service. Officiating will be Dr. Murry Hodge of Summer Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his parents Nathaniel C. & Alice Light Duncan; sisters, Faye Hudnall, Mae Von Benson and Melba Holmes; brothers, Foy T. Duncan & Howard E. Duncan; stepsons, Patrick E. Rovell, III and David C. Rovell.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jean B. Duncan; son, Dan A. Duncan and wife Melanie; grandchildren, Adalynn & Carter; stepchildren, Linda Huff and husband Ron, Bill Greene and wife O’Neal, Dan P. Rovell and wife Claudia and Mark K. Rovell and wife Terri; sister, Allene Hackler; brother, Royce O. Duncan; as well as many stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bill was a native of Pittsburgh, TX, born February 15, 1926, where he grew up on a farm, the 7th of 8 children. He graduated from Pittsburgh High School in 1943 and served in the U. S. Army from 1944-1946 with active duty in Europe earning the EAME Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. Following his Honorable Discharge, Bill moved to Shreveport in 1952 where he drove a city trolley for 8 years. He then took a job working for the US Postal Service where he retired in 1989.
Bill was an active member of Summer Grove Baptist Church and his Sunday School Class for many years. He loved bowling, watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboy and LSU Football, playing dominoes, and writing a little poetry. The family would like to thank the staff of WK South for their loving care of Bill during his last days. The family suggests that memorials be made to Summer Grove Baptist Church.
