Bill was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and dedicated educator for Bossier Parish Schools. His life was defined by service, family, and the passions he held close to his heart.
For many years, Bill dedicated his career to adaptive education, where he found his true calling in helping students with unique abilities discover their strengths and achieve their fullest potential. His patience, compassion, and unwavering belief in every child left a lasting impression on countless students, families, and colleagues. Teaching was more than a profession—it was a calling that he embraced wholeheartedly.
Outside the classroom, Bill found joy in the outdoors and the traditions he cherished. He was an avid firearms enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the shooting range. Competitive shooting was one of his greatest passions, and he took great pride in participating in firearms competitions, where he built lifelong friendships and demonstrated the discipline and sportsmanship that defined his character.
While Bill had many interests, nothing in his life brought him greater happiness than his family. His four children were his greatest accomplishment and the center of his world. He was a loving husband, a steady source of strength, and a father who led by example with integrity, kindness, and unwavering support. The values he instilled through his words and actions will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Orlana Friesen Hyde; their children, Jason Hyde, wife Tiffany, Kayla Floyd, husband Robbie, Jeremy Hyde, wife Lisa, and Cody Hyde, wife Ashley; and his cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Robert, Carson, Justice, Jayda, Jordyn, Mickinna, Weston, Wyatt, Hunter, and Renley. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, former students, and colleagues whose lives were forever enriched by his compassion, wisdom, and generous spirit.
Bill’s legacy is one of selfless service, enduring love, and quiet strength. He touched countless lives through his work as an educator, his dedication to his family, and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation for William “Bill” Hyde will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 at 10am at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a celebration of his life starting at 11am. He will then be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to support organizations that serve students with disabilities or youth outdoor and shooting sports programs, reflecting the causes and passions that meant so much to him.
