Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Bill Simmons was the son of W.G. and Drucie Simmons. He grew up in Converse, Louisiana and attended Panola College on a basketball scholarship. He completed his Masters of Arts degree in education with 30 hours towards his PhD at Northwestern State University. He was a lifelong educator as teacher, counselor and principal. Along with his extensive profession as an educator, Bill owned and operated several businesses, the latest being Air-Vac Rentals & Service, Inc.
He was a beloved and active member of North Keithville Baptist Church. He enjoyed FOX News, camping with his family, and spending time with his wife. He will be remembered for his laughter, integrity, patience, wisdom, and generosity.
Bill was predeceased by his father and mother, W.G. Simmons and Drucie Simmons. Left to cherish his memory is his precious wife, Nellie Simmons; brother, Ken Simmons; three sons, Keith Simmons and wife, Fontaine, Brad Simmons and wife, Marla, Will Simmons and wife, Amber; sister-in-law, Billie Stroud, as well as his many grandchildren.
Honoring Bill as pallbearers are sons, Keith Simmons, Brad Simmons, and Will Simmons, grandsons, Cole Simmons and John Carter Simmons, brother, Ken Simmons, and friends, Lane Robinson and Dwayne Brown.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 on November 16 at North Keithville Baptist Church, 3482 Keithville-Kingston Road, Keithville, Louisiana 71047, with service to follow at 11:30. Pastor Will Simmons Officiant. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to North Keithville Baptist Church.
