

MILLER, (Frame) Bertha Ethel, age 100, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 20, 2010 at Ivany Place Continuing Care Facility in Bedford. Born in Gays River, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Cook) Frame of (Gays River). Bertha was predeceased by her husband Robert, brothers Albert (Agnes) and Owen (Bope) Frame, and sister Grace Frame. She is survived by sons Douglas (Barbara) Miller, Norman (Ann) Miller and Paul (Janet) Miller, and daughter Janet (Gerald) Fisher, as well as 10 grandchildren Mark, Rebecca, Michael, Stephen, Anthony, Gregory, Timothy, Robin, Todd, and Fraser; and 8 great grandchildren. Bertha began teaching school at age 17 in Montrose, and later opened the Tea Cosy restaurant in Milford. After her marriage she continued as a teacher, farm wife and homemaker, raising her family in Elmsdale. She was an avid bridge player and Upwords (Scrabble) champion, as well as an active member of the UCW. Other interests included crocheting, knitting and great cooking! A few years after Robert’s death she moved to Victoria, BC in 1986 to be near her sister Grace, moving back to Halifax in 1999 where she lived in Melville Heights. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A funeral Service will held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 25, in Riverview United Church, Elmsdale, Rev. Beth Brehaut officiating, followed by a reception in the church hall. Interment will be in the Elmsdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
