

CARTWRIGHT, Gerald – 84, Truro, passed away March 21, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in George’s River, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late George and Rose (Chadwell) Cartwright. As a young man, Gerald learned the value of hard work and found no job too big or too small. He raised his family of five children and taught them the values that he lived by. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed making new friends throughout his entire life. He was always first to lend a helping hand to those who needed it and his friendly and caring personality earned him respect from all whose lives he touched. In his spare time he enjoyed making crafts, planting flowers and tending his vegetable garden. One of his greatest passions was his church and he cherished the fellowship of its members. His faith in his Lord gave him strength through all the challenges that life presented to him. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Sandra (Greg) Bohnert, Calgary, AB; Laura (Steve) Ash, Stewiacke: numerous grandchildren: several great grandchildren, companion Betty Ash; brothers Teddy (Marge) Cartwright; George Cartwright; sisters Audrey Boutlier; Ethel Johnston; Nancy Young; and Mildred (Glen) Kettlewell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald was predeceased by his first wife Ann Cartwright, second wife Violet Thomas-Cartwright; sons Roland and Gerald, daughter Bonnie, brother Kenny, sisters Ruthie and Muriel. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. No visitation by request. Funeral service 3pm, Friday March 25, 2011 at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Pastor Dave Hamilton officiating. Family flowers only.
