

FERGUSON, John Robert “Bob” – 81, Maitland, passed away February 6, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harold and Martha (Roberts) Ferguson. At the age of 13, in 1942 he moved to a foster home in Maitland to work on a farm, since then Maitland has been his home. At the age of 17 he worked at various lumbering camps throughout Hants County. He moved on to driving transport trucks and eventually started his own business “Ferguson’s Transport” in the 1960’s. He finished his work career at Clarence Farm Services. Bob worked hard all his life. Bob was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He was always there to support his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his children Pat (Gary) MacPhee, Upper Rawdon; Bobby (Lynn) Ferguson, Maitland; Glenn (Joanne) Ferguson, South Maitland; grandchildren Tasha Dalrymple, Millet, AB; Chet Ferguson, Selma; Emily Ferguson, South Maitland; Mary Ferguson, South Maitland; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Etta (Allison), grandson Stephen Dalrymple, brother Earl Ferguson, sisters Jean Rogers and Laura Peters. Visitation 2-4 & 7-9pm, Wednesday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, funeral service 3pm Thursday in St. David’s United Church, Maitland, Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Bob resided at Elk Court, Brookfield since June and enjoyed his time there. Thank you to the staff for all their love and care to Bob.
