Ruth Helen Higgins

HIGGINS, Ruth, Middle Musquodoboit, passed away March 29, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in 1920, in Upper Musquodoboit, she was the daughter of the late William and Melinda (Farnell) Hutchinson. She moved to Middle Musquodoboit in 1933 where she spent the rest of her life. Ruth enjoyed life and her special interests were her family and crafts, genealogy and nature. After her family was complete she worked at the Musquodoboit Valley Hospital for sixteen years. She has been a member of Brookvale Ladies Aid, South Section Ladies Aid, Musquodoboit Home and School Association and Musquodoboit Valley Historical Society where she was President for a number for years. At the time of her death she was a member of Wittenburg United Baptist Church. She is survived by four sons John (Laura), Dwight (Kaye), Paul (Marilyn), and James (Jeanette), daughter-in-law Linda Higgins, two daughters Phyllis Heinrichs (Albert), Karen Archibald (Brian); twenty three grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Kenneth, son Lewis, daughter Lola (infancy), her parents, brother Benjamin (Mary) and sister Esther Higgins (Melvin). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation 2-4pm, Sunday in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway2, Shubenacadie, with funeral service 2pm, Monday in Wittenburg United Baptist Church, Wittenburg, Pastor Keith Grant officiating.
