She graduated from Matthews High School in 1948. On September 24, 1949, she married James “Jim” Nall in Piggott, Arkansas. They had been married nearly 50 years when he passed away in 1997.
Joan spent her entire adult life working for Scott County Milling Company, later Cargill, where her colleagues became lifelong friends. She retired after 47 years of service.
Joan was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, serving the Lord by singing in the choir, participating in the Koinonia Class, and engaging in various other church activities. God and family were the most important things in her life. She was an avid Bulldog basketball fan, spending many seasons in the bleachers in the fieldhouse, cheering on her team. She loved babies, dogs, and going places with friends and family, especially her cousin, Bob Depro.
She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Barbara Jones and Cathy Settles, and brother, Gerald Settles. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Krei (Ed) of Oklahoma City, and two grandchildren, Lauren Krei of Nashville, Tennessee, and Barrett Krei (Kristen) of Tucson, Arizona, her brother, Bill Settles (Kim) of Kansas City, Missouri, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her family and friends will miss Joan, but those who knew her are confident that heaven will be a little better now that she is there.
The family would like to thank her caregivers who gave support, love, and care to her as her health declined.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, 1101 N. Main Street, Sikeston, on September 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at noon with a graveside service immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In place of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to First Baptist Church, St. Jude’s Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.nunneleefuneralchapel.com for the Nall family.
