Betty Payne

Betty Jean Payne, age 86, of Jackson, formerly of Morehouse, died October 22, 2015, at the Monticello House in Jackson. Born January 18, 1929, in Morehouse, to the late Thomas and Dimple Shultz Sheeter, she was a homemaker. On March 28, 1948, in Morehouse, she married Delbert Payne, who preceded her in death on February 26, 1992.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Timothy Gainey of Cape Girardeau; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kimberly and John Barnard of Jackson; and three great grandchildren, Dominique Barnard, Johnathon Barnard and Kayla Barnard, all of Jackson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Sheeter Jr. and Fred Sheeter; and one sister, Elsie Love.

Visitation will begin at 10a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 26, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Mike Perry, pastor of Fruitland Community Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Barnard, Johnathon Barnard and Timothy Gainey.
