Our much-loved dad, Billy Franklin Brown, 77, passed away on September 25, 2013, at Clearview Nursing Center. He was born February 20, 1936 to the late Charlie C. Brown and Iva Sherwood Brown of Sikeston. He was retired from Essex Wire and Cargill/Scott County Milling Company. He also worked as a mechanic at the Honda Motor Company. On December 22, 1954 he married the late Betty Brown of Sikeston who preceded him in death. He married Caren Stark Brown who survives of Sikeston. She was a devoted caregiver to him during his long illness.
Surviving children are: Billy G. Brown of Sikeston, William F. Brown of Dexter, Vickie Nall of Benton, Brenda Fry of Matthews, Norman Brown of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Laura Ziegler of Blodgett. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Charles and Elgy Brown, Sr., one sister, Shirley Powell; and one daughter, Jenny Stark. Other surviving family members include: Barbara Casey, Pearlie Mae Watson and Dorothy Overton. He was dearly loved by his 7 children, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was the best daddy anyone could ever hope to have, and a devoted husband and a faithful friend to all who knew him.
Visitation will be at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston on Thursday, September 26, from 5-8 p.m., with funeral services to be held in the Nunnelee Chapel on Friday, September 27, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Elgy Brown Jr., officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Tyra, Frankie Brown, Crystal Brown, Bill Roberts, Jon Ziegler and Manuel Spraggs. Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery next to our beloved mother, Betty.
