

Carolyn Sue “Susie” McDougal, age 76, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO after a prolonged illness.
She was born on November 30, 1947, to the late Paul and Wanda (Maag) Pierce in Paragould, AR, where she spent most of her childhood. She later moved to Sikeston, MO, where she graduated from Sikeston Senior High School in 1965.
On July 19, 1967, she married Dean McDougal in Sikeston, MO. They briefly lived in Michigan before returning to Missouri. For the majority of her adult life, she and Dean owned and operated grocery stores in Arbyrd, MO and Steele, MO. They also owned and operated the roller-skating rink in Kennett, MO. Building relationships in the community always brought Susie joy and made these roles fulfilling for her.
Susie was a longtime member of Arbyrd Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir and serving as a Sunday School teacher. After retiring and returning to Sikeston, she joined Fellowship Baptist Church.
She leaves behind her husband of fifty-six years, Dean, one sister, Pauletta Meeks, and one brother, Joey Pierce, all of Sikeston, MO; two sons, Scott (Amanda) McDougal of Cape Girardeau, MO and Jeffrey (Tiffany) McDougal of Columbia, TN; six grandchildren, Emma, Annie, Cora, and Meryl McDougal all of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Elias and Parker McDougal of Columbia, TN.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Wanda Pierce.
She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Alan Cureton officiating.
Pallbearers will be Allen Meeks, Leven Cox, Joey Paul Pierce, Justin Winkler, Ian Meeks, and Charlie Cox.
Family has requested memorial donations be made to the St. Francis Cancer Foundation or any charity of your choice.
Interment will be in the Sikeston Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
