

Charles J. Green, 89, of Catron, died October 10, 2014, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born March 30, 1925, in Bremen, Ind., to the late Charles and Glada Herrington Green, he served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army. He was a youth pastor during his early years at the Tanner Street Church of God; and was owner of the Bible Book Store in Sikeston during the 1960s and 1970s. He also pastored at the Bement Baptist Church and the Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston. His later years were spent serving as minister for the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Plymouth, Ind.
Survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Lori and Thomas Stinnett Jr. of Sikeston and Linda Green of Paducah, Ky.; and four sisters, Marge Rans of Valparaiso, Ind., and Sherry Weil, Shirley Marlene Bunpon and Joyce Smith, all of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Don Green, and one sister, Beverly Himes.
Visitation will be held beginning at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, until time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Jim E. Johnson, pastor of the Catron Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date.
