Danny Meeks

Thomas Daniel “Danny” Meeks, age 67 of Sikeston, MO died at 4:02 A.M. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born Dec. 14, 1944 in Cairo, IL to the late Elmo and Helen Taylor Meeks. He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1962. He formerly worked at Potlatch Forest Packaging Company in Sikeston. He began doing custom printing work in his garage at home in 1967, and in 1972 he opened Meeks Printing Company on 198 S. Stoddard Street until 1991, at which time he moved his printing business to 222 N. Main Street, the current location. He served as the owner and operator of Meeks Printing Co. until his death.

He had been a member of the Sikeston Jaycees, and he was a member and active in the Sikeston Little Theater. He was instrumental in forming the Cottonmouth Supercross BMX Bicycle Motocross Track at the Sikeston Sports Complex in 1985. He was a longtime member, deacon and choir member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston, and had also been a member of the Sikeston Community Choir.

He was married to Pauletta Pierce on June 6, 1964 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston. She survives of the home. He is also survived by a son and daughter in law, Allen and Debbie Meeks of Sikeston; by a daughter and son in law, Shelley and Leven Cox of Sikeston; by two sisters, Diane Evans of Kennett, MO and Debbie Scott of Smithfield, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Ian Meeks, Caroline Meeks, Sam Cox and Charlie Cox, all of Sikeston.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A. M. until 12 Noon on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Fellowship Baptist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P. M. Monday, with the pastor Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
