
Donnie Leon DeJournett Burch, age 89, of Matthews, died December 25, 2015, at the Miner Nursing Center. Born September 22, 1926, in Bernie, to the late Alva William and Inez Williams DeJournett, she was a homemaker and member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews. On July 3, 1942, in Piggott, Arkansas, she married Oather Glen "Pete" Burch, who preceded her in death on February 10, 2005.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Cathy Burch of Matthews, Curtis and Cheryl Burch of Farrenburg and Dennis and Lisa Burch of Matthews; three daughters and sons-in-law, Detsel and Melvin Belvin of Sikeston, Shelia and Lonnie Polk of Matthews and Karen and Pat Magee of Sikeston; two brothers, Roy DeJournett of Ellington and Lowell DeJournett of the state of Montana. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Bloyce Burch, one daughter, Robin Hough, one brother William DeJournett, and three sisters, Maxine Young, Dale Ivie and Patsy Shaw.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 28 at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, with pastors Chris Polk and Jeff Polk, officiating.
Interment will be in the Matthews Cemetery.
